About Your Trip

Chase Big Game Offshore with Captain Ernest!

Departing bright and early at 5:30 AM, this 10-hour offshore run out of Ocracoke is your shot at serious bluewater action. Depending on the season and conditions, you’ll make an average run of 18 to 23 miles before lines go in—and once they do, it’s game on.

You’ll be trolling and dropping for heavy-hitters like Yellowfin and Blackfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi (Dolphin), Wahoo, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, and King
Mackerel. Bottom fishing adds another layer of excitement, with chances at Triggerfish, B-Liners (Vermillion Snapper), and Grouper when in season. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned offshore angler, this trip offers something for everyone.

Captain Ernest runs a classic 46’ Scarborough Sportfisher—powered by twin Cummins engines pushing 980 horsepower—fully outfitted for a comfortable, capable day on the deep. The boat is federally permitted, has a full restroom onboard, Bluetooth sound system, and is disability-friendly.

All rods, reels, and tackle are provided, and your catch can be cleaned for an additional fee. Bring your own food, drinks (no glass, please), and remember—a tip for the mate is greatly appreciated and not included in the trip price.

Ready to chase your offshore trophy? Let’s make it happen.
